Shower Better Month

It makes WaterSense

October is National Shower Better Month! To celebrate, make sure your appliances have an Energy Star sticker and look for the WaterSense label when purchasing a shower head, toilet or sink faucet.

These products are water efficient, reducing the amount of water it takes to do the job by at least 20 percent. During October, the easiest way to shower better is to replace your showerhead with a WaterSense labeled one. This simple 15-minute project could save your household 2,900 gallons of water in a single year! That makes a lot of water sense!

How much is too much?

How much water should you be using? How much water did your household use last month? While the answer is different for everyone, you can find out more on your water bill.

Your water budget is included with your bill. This monthly budget is based on what your household used last year, along with formulated calculations to come up with an appropriate water amount. How much water you actually used, and what you are being charged for, is also identified here.

The most important tip - stay under your budget to conserve. Conserving will also save you money. If you go above your water budget, you'll see an additional charge on your bill.

And because nothing ever stays the same, your water budget, is adjusted each year to accommodate changes within your household. In April, your Average Winter Monthly Consumption is calculated from usage during the winter months and used to determine your annual water budget.
