Hold Up! Do you need a permit for that?
When planning a remodeling project, it can be very tempting to skip to the exciting stage of choosing paint colors, fixtures and fittings – but have you thought about permits?
Building permits are a necessary part of the process and going without one can be very costly down the road. A building permit gives you legal permission to start your project, ensures it is built correctly, and provides third-party verification that the completed work meets Castle Rock’s adopted codes.
Permits are commonly required for projects that include changes to your electrical, plumbing or AC/heating systems, or projects that modify the structure, or use of a building, such as a reroof, basement finish or addition. To see if a permit is needed for your project, contact the Building Division at 720-733-3527 or BuildingCounter@CRGov.com
. Submit your permit application using the Town's eTrakit portal: Building Permits
. Or, find more information online at CRgov.com/Building.
Dealing with building permits before you begin, will allow you to enjoy your perfectly legal remodel, for years to come!
