Dec. 1 Council update: terms begin for four newly elected Councilmembers; new Mayor Pro Tem appointed
Four new members joined Town Council Tuesday. These new members were elected in November. Additionally, Council recognized outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Jason Bower and Councilmembers George Teal and James Townsend. Councilmember Jess Loban was recognized upon his departure in August. A proclamation of commendation was given to each outgoing member for their dedication and contributions to the community.
Here is a closer look at Tuesday's meeting:
- Four new members join Town Council – Following the November election, four new members joined Town Council. Voters elected Ryan Hollingshead to represent District 1, which includes western portions of The Meadows. Laura Cavey now represents District 2 in northeast Castle Rock. Desiree LaFleur represents District 4, which includes central Castle Rock and Downtown. And, Tim Dietz is the Councilmember for District 6 in south Castle Rock. The transition took place Tuesday, when the four new members were sworn in. The 2020-2022 Town Council – which also includes at-large Mayor Jason Gray, District 3 Councilmember Kevin Bracken and District 5 Councilmember Caryn Johnson – also discussed several procedural items for the coming year.

- Town Council appoints Mayor Pro Tem – During Tuesday’s meeting, Town Council also appointed Councilmember Kevin Bracken – who represents eastern portions of The Meadows, along with Red Hawk and Castle Highlands – as the Mayor Pro Tem. The Mayor Pro Tem fills the Mayor’s role in his absence.
