[ARCHIVED] Town Council, Planning Commission meeting to discuss potential sign code changes

The Town Council and the Planning Commission have scheduled a joint meeting in Town Council Chambers Tuesday, Dec. 1, following the regular Council meeting. The group will hear additional reports from staff, as well as input from the public.

A proposed amendment to the Town’s sign code would allow for electronic message signs.

Specifically, Council will consider:
·How does the proposed amendment support and advance the objectives of the Vision 2020, Comprehensive Master Plan, the Historic Preservation Plan and the Downtown Master Plan?
·Are the message signs appropriate in all zone districts throughout Town?
·Should the signs be allowed at all?
·What are the benefits and problems associated with electronic signs?
·What conditions, if any, should be considered?
·What design criteria should be considered (brightness, dimensions, locations)?
