[ARCHIVED] Firefighters extinguish blaze at central Castle Rock house

Town firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that broke out at a house in central Castle Rock Thursday afternoon.

The call regarding the fire at 998 Coral Court came in at about 1:45 p.m.

Firefighters arrived at the house and found a small fire in the basement.

Four people live in the house, though only one of them was home when the fire started. That person escaped.

Firefighters removed two dogs and a cat from the house. The dogs were treated for smoke inhalation at a local veterinary clinic; the cat did not survive.

Fifteen firefighters worked to quickly put out the fire.

The full extent of the damage, along with the fire’s cause, still are being investigated.
