[ARCHIVED] Join a conservation project or attend the Earth Day Festival April 22

Celebrate Earth Day - illustration of a tree with the earth on top.

On Saturday, April 22, Festival Park will become Castle Rock’s Earth Day headquarters. Celebrate by joining us for a volunteer activity, or learning more about conservation at the Earth Day Festival. It will be a day to act, learn and enjoy.

For more than a decade, residents have helped the Town celebrate Earth Day by pitching in to restore disturbed areas at Philip S. Miller Park or along Sellars Gulch in Downtown Castle Rock. This year, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, volunteers will plant native grasses at Festival Park and remove invasive plants, including watercress, in the park and along Sellars Gulch.

Following the volunteer conservation opportunity, everyone in Castle Rock is invited to join their friends and neighbors from noon to 3 p.m. for an Earth Day Festival. Come to Festival Park to mark the day and learn more about environmental conservation. You’ll find educational information from local nonprofits, demonstrations, crafts, vendors featuring upcycled goods, music and food trucks.

Volunteers must preregister at Register as a group, family or individual. This is a great opportunity for scout groups working on their conservation badges or students needing community service hours.
