A potential sports-development center as part of the proposed mixed-use development at the site of the former Acme Brick facility on Prairie Hawk Drive was a topic on Town Council’s May 17 meeting agenda.
Here is a closer look:
- Proposed sports-development center – Town Council directed staff to continue discussions and exploration of a sports-development center as proposed and presented. Growth has created a demand for a third recreation facility. Funding comes from Parks and Recreation Impact Fees, but finding a location will be challenging, so the Town put out a request for proposals to seek potential partners. The firm that’s proposing a mixed-use development at the former Acme Brick facility on Prairie Hawk Drive wants to provide land, financing and construction services to build the Town’s proposed sports-development center with aquatic, gymnasium and fitness facilities.
An open house to provide more information on the proposal and answer questions will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park, 1381 W. Plum Creek Parkway.
Following an opportunity for public input, the proposal will be brought back to Town Council at a future date for further discussion and direction.
