[ARCHIVED] March 15 Council update

Town Council March 15 update

Contracts for construction management/general contractor services for the future Crystal Valley Parkway/Interstate 25 interchange project and for annual road improvement projects in Castle Rock were approved at Town Council’s March 15 meeting. Here is a closer look:

  • Crystal Valley interchange contract – Town Council approved a contract with Kraemer North America for construction management/general contractor services for the Crystal Valley interchange project, which will be constructed about 2.5 miles south of the Plum Creek Parkway interchange.

Jacobs Engineering is working on the project’s design. Kraemer is being brought in now to collaborate on that process. Advantages of this could include better pricing, quicker timing and reduced risk to the Town when the project moves into construction. The Town used the same approach on the Castle Rock Parkway interchange, for which Kraemer served the same role. Kraemer was selected for this work following a competitive, qualifications-based process and will be paid up to $495,000 under the contract.

Preliminary design of the interchange is expected to be completed this summer, with final design and the beginning of construction anticipated in summer 2023, pending available funding.

  • Annual pavement maintenance contracts – Council also approved a number of contracts totaling over $18.5 million related to the Town’s annual Pavement Maintenance Program, which this year will focus on southern Castle Rock.

The work will improve 123 lane miles of roads in areas including Crystal Valley and Plum Creek. Improvements also will occur on primary streets including East Loop Road, Fifth Street, Mikelson Boulevard, Park Street and Woodlands Boulevard. Work will begin in April and is expected to be complete in October. Visit CRgov.com/PMPTracker for updates as efforts progress.

Also on the agenda, Council approved a $4.8 million contract with DN Tanks for the construction of a 2-million-gallon water storage tank in Cobblestone Ranch. The tank, which should be completed this year, will help to more adequately serve this growing area of Town.
