Construction of the first phase of the 168-acre Cobblestone Ranch Park in northeast Castle Rock is expected to wrap up in summer 2022. Amenities on the 12-acre portion include playgrounds, picnic pavilions, pickleball courts, half-court basketball, walking paths, bike features and all-season restrooms.
Funding to complete the park master plan isn’t currently available, and the Town is exploring options to move the plan forward. Through a request for proposals process, the Town received one response from Colorado Classic Baseball, a baseball and softball tournament company based in Douglas County that operates youth sports programs and tournaments throughout the Denver Metro area.
“A partnership with the right organization would help us achieve the goals of our Cobblestone Ranch Park Master Plan much faster than we could accomplish on our own,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Brauer. “We’re looking forward to having the community’s input on a proposal that has the potential to help us achieve the vision for this regional park.”
Colorado Classic Baseball is proposing to construct and operate six synthetic turf baseball fields, along with the option to construct an approximately 30,000-square-foot indoor all-sport facility through a long-term lease agreement. The organization is proposing to fund the field construction and would provide space for Town athletic programs and leagues. The fields would also be available for other sports such as flag football and soccer.
The Town is seeking resident input on the proposal, and there are a few opportunities to provide feedback. An open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Castle Rock Recreation Center, 2301 Woodlands Blvd. There are no formal presentations, so drop by anytime during the open house to learn more and provide input.
