Castle Rock residents know our Town is tops. On Friday, the community received national affirmation of its greatness:
Money, founded in 1972 as a print magazine, named Castle Rock No. 28 on its list of 50 Best Places to Live in 2021-2022.
Castle Rock was one of two Colorado communities on this year’s list. The Town is no stranger to this honor, having also been listed in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2019.
“This city of 70,700 people boasts 6,000 acres of open space, award-winning public schools and easy access to both Denver and Colorado Springs,” Money’s website says of the Town. “Castle Rock’s historic downtown district offers locally owned shops and restaurants ... It also plays host to the town’s street festivals and outdoors concerts in the summer.”
Money considered communities of 25,000 to 500,000 for its Best Places list. Among communities considered, areas with higher crime rates and weaker economics were eliminated, resulting in about 1,300 candidate communities, according to Money’s methodology webpage.
In ranking the Town 28th among those 1,300, Money examined 100 different metrics across nine categories: cost of living; economic opportunity; diversity; education; fun (aka amenities); health and safety; housing market; income and personal finances; and quality of life.
“Those of us who have lived here for any amount of time know that Castle Rock is an incredibly special place,” said Mayor Jason Gray. “It’s nice to once again receive independent affirmation that the Town is one of the country’s premier communities to call home.”
Castle Rock has been fortunate to be cited by a number of other outlets in recognition of our community’s safety and great quality of life. Visit CRgov.com/recognition for a listing of recent such honors, including a link to Money’s webpage for Castle Rock.
