How many times have you ignored a beep or a chirp coming out of your smoke or carbon monoxide alarm? During Fire Prevention Week Oct. 3-9, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue wants to help you understand your alarms better so you can be prepared in the event of a fire.
When an alarm makes noise – take action. What is your alarm trying to tell you?
Throughout the week, tune into the Town’s social media channels @CRgov for more tips, or visit CRgov.com/SmokeAlarms to learn more.
To help Castle Rock students engage with Fire Prevention Week, CRFD is hosting its annual fire safety coloring contest. This event encourages kids to "Learn the Sounds of Safety" in a creative way.
Five winners will receive a presentation by CRFD at their school, including an ice cream party for their entire class. Winning entries will also be made into a decal and placed on the side of a fire truck where it will ride for a year.
The contest is open to third through sixth-grade students. To enter, have your student speak to their elementary school teacher, or email FireEducator@CRgov.com with questions.
