[ARCHIVED] Proposed regulations to protect Town infrastructure from outside development; open house Aug. 2

Protecting Town infrastructure from projects outside of the Town

Development occurring outside Town boundaries can impact Castle Rock infrastructure and resources. A framework is being considered to help protect the Town from the impact of projects outside our boundaries.

Colorado law allows for the adoption of a regulatory framework to protect valuable resources such as water, watershed, wastewater and transportation infrastructure, known as 1041 Regulations.

The open house will be held 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St. to discuss potential 1041 Regulations. Town staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the proposed framework.

These types of regulations are used by many Colorado local governments to protect cities, towns and counties from possible negative impacts of development proposals outside their immediate jurisdiction but still impacting the municipality. The permit could require the proposed development to demonstrate appropriate and reasonable mitigation efforts to protect Town infrastructure and environmental features prior to the development proceeding.
