[ARCHIVED] Construction begins on new Cobblestone Ranch Park; groundbreaking set for June 30

Cobblestone Ranch Park update

A new park can improve the community spirit within a neighborhood. And, a regional park can improve the quality of life for the entire Town. That’s the goal of the Town’s newest park planned for Cobblestone Ranch. Construction is set to begin this month.

In May, Town Council awarded the construction contract to White Construction Group. Now, it’s time to get the work underway.

The 168-acre site is located along Castle Oaks and Arabella drives. The $5.6 million first phase of the project is set to include picnic areas, a large playground, a pump track for biking, a half-court for basketball, a green lawn, and other landscaping, sidewalks and off-street parking. Town Council also added six pickleball courts and a plumbed restroom to the first phase.

The full master plan is available online. Ultimately, the site will serve as a regional destination, much like Philip S. Miller Park.

“Residents have given us some creative input on this park,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Brauer. “We are excited for the opportunity to provide amenities for the northwest area of Castle Rock. The combination of natural resources, park development and trail connections, including the Cherry Creek and McMurdo Gulch trail systems, will make it a draw for the entire community.”

Join us for a groundbreaking from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30. Look for the tent on the east side of Arabella Drive, north of the roundabout. Refreshments will be provided.

Work on the first phase is expected to be completed in spring 2022. At which point, a community opening celebration will be planned. For updates on the project’s progress, including a rendering of the final park plan, go to CRgov.com/FutureParks.
