As part of continuing efforts to provide public parking Downtown, the Town announces the opening of more than 300 public parking spaces in the garage that’s part of the upcoming Encore development.
The garage is accessible from South Street, which can currently be accessed via Perry Street. Ultimately, Wilcox Street’s connection to South Street will reopen, allowing access to the garage from both of Downtown’s major north-south routes.
The public parking, which includes eight ADA spaces, is presently on floors 1-5 in the garage. Once construction winds down later this year, public parking will be located on each of the garage’s seven floors. For fire-safety reasons, no overnight parking is allowed in the garage while the development remains under construction.
This new parking area not only serves Town Hall but also Festival Park and the broader Downtown area. View a map of all of the public parking that’s available Downtown at CRgov.com/DowntownParking.
Once complete, the Encore development at 20 Wilcox St. will include restaurants, offices and 124 residences. In addition to the parking, public amenities will include a new public plaza between Town Hall and Encore; a public-use dog park; and a railroad quiet zone within Downtown, of which the development is funding $900,000. The Town currently expects the quiet zone to be in place by the end of the year.
