Have fun, and learn more about the Town you call home, at Your Town Academy – an eight-week class designed to provide Castle Rock residents and business owners with greater knowledge of their Town government.
Applications are being accepted starting today at CRgov.com/YTA. The application period is expected to close July 2, but it could end earlier if the class becomes full, as spaces are limited; don’t wait if you are interested in learning more about how #WeWorkForYou.
“(I) had so much fun learning about the various Castle Rock departments that help make our Town so great,” said 2020 program graduate and resident Joel Wood.
During the academy, each of the Town’s major departments – Police, Fire and Rescue, Public Works/Roads, Parks and Recreation, Development Services and Water – will host an evening of information and interactive demonstrations regarding their services. The remaining two classes will contain information about the Town’s history, structure, funding and general services. A detailed course outline is available online.
The program will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on eight Mondays between Aug. 16 and Oct. 11. A graduation ceremony is expected to be held during the Oct. 19 Town Council meeting.
The class is free to adults ages 18 and up. Participants must complete at least six of the eight classes to receive a Certificate of Completion.
The class size will be capped at 30 participants. Preference for enrollment will be given first to Town residents and business owners. The class will then be filled first come, first served. Those accepted into the class will be notified in July.
