[ARCHIVED] First Friday feelings; live music, family fun, 5K and more at Festival Park June 4

First Fridays

Are you working for the weekend? Looking for ways to unwind? If you’ve got Friday on your mind, we’ve got the perfect solution. Spend time Downtown this summer with the Town’s First Fridays event series.

On the first Friday of the month, June through September, head to Festival Park to enjoy live music, food trucks, cocktails, kids’ activities and more. House music begins at 5 p.m. The featured artist starts around 5:45 p.m., and the festivities continue until 9 p.m. The entire series kicks off Friday, June 4, with Got Groove.

A variety dance band based in New Orleans, Got Groove covers everything from Coldplay and Biggie, to James Brown and Beyoncé. Don’t miss this high-energy show!

With yard games, family friendly activities and a themed run/walk, First Fridays are the perfect nights to bring the entire family Downtown.

Before you indulge in the Friday fun, start the night off right with the First Fridays 5K. These free, theme-based run/walks are fun for the entire family. The unofficially timed races start at 5:30 p.m. right in Festival Park. Prizes will be awarded to the best themed costumes. June’s theme is Super Hero 5K. Registration is available online.

Check out for details on the entire season and 5K registration, or follow the event posts on the Town’s Facebook page (CRgov).

Please note, there is roadwork Downtown. Wilcox Street is fully closed at South Street for roundabout construction. Pack your patience and plan some extra time to get through the work zones. Get tips for Downtown parking at
