[ARCHIVED] May 18 Council update

May 17 Town Council Update

A contract to begin construction on the first phase of the Town’s newest park in Cobblestone Ranch and an update on Castle Rock Water’s WISE project were both topics on Town Council’s May 18 meeting agenda.

Here is a closer look:

  • Cobblestone Ranch Park construction contract finalized – Town Council approved a contract with White Construction Group to begin construction of phase 1 at Cobblestone Ranch Park.

The 168-acre site is located in eastern Castle Rock, near Castle Oaks and Arabella drives. Ultimately, the property will serve as a regional destination for the entire community. The first phase of the project consists of approximately 12 acres and includes the entry road off of Castle Oaks Drive, off-street parking, three picnic pavilions, a large playground, a pump track for biking, a half-court for basketball, a lawn area, concrete sidewalks and landscaping. Six pickleball courts and a plumbed restroom were also added to this first phase. Learn more at CRgov.com/FutureParks.

The budget for this phase of the project is about $5.6 million. This will generally be funded through the Parks and Recreation Capital Fund, using impact fees paid by developers.

  • WISE water project update – Town Council received an update on the Town’s WISE water project and approved two resolutions related to the project’s capital improvements and delivery costs. The Water Infrastructure Supply Efficiency project is a key piece of Castle Rock Water’s long-term renewable water plan. The goal of that plan is to achieve 75% renewable water by 2050. WISE water will ultimately make up about 12% of the Town’s water supply.

The project is a partnership among Denver Water, Aurora Water and 10 other South Metro water providers, to share infrastructure and renewable and reusable water supplies along the South Platte River. Learn more at CRgo.com/WISEWater.
