Just like “April showers bring May flowers,” spring temperatures bring spring cleaning. Enjoy the changing weather and take that cleaning spirit outdoors for the Town’s annual Spring Up the Creek Event.
This year’s event will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1.
The 2021 event format will be different to accommodate social distancing and abide by State heath guidelines. Volunteers will not meet at a central location, but rather at their designated trailhead or parking area. When registering, volunteers will need to select a specific trail. They’ll be responsible for providing their own transportation to that site. Additionally, there will not be a vendor fair or children’s activities at this year’s event.
The annual event helps keep the community’s water clean and promotes the importance of protecting the environment. The Town hosts this event in partnership with Douglas County, Castle Pines Metro District, Plum Creek Water Reclamation Authority and the Chatfield Watershed Authority.
Volunteers will be given gloves, trash bags and a commemorative neck gaiter, while supplies last. Snacks and water will also be available at the trailheads.
All ages are welcome. This event is a great opportunity to fulfill community service hours. Online registration and a completed waiver are required prior to the event. More information, including registration and maps of the cleanup routes, is available at CRgov.com/SpringUp.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held Saturday, May 15. Weather information will be found on the event’s webpage and the Town’s social media channels.
