Ensuring access to Town facilities and services for all, regardless of their abilities, is an important goal.
With that goal in mind, the Town has worked with outside experts to develop a draft Transition Plan, as prescribed by the Americans with Disabilities Act, to prioritize future efforts to ensure adequate access exists.
The draft plan is available online at CRgov.com/ADAPlan for public review and comment. A questionnaire is on the webpage and available in hard copy at Town Hall, Castle Rock Police Department/Municipal Court, the Castle Rock Recreation Center and the Miller Activity Complex.

The Town and its consultant have been working on the plan for about a year. Town policies and facilities, parks and trails were examined by the outside experts as part of the process. Additionally, Town staff were surveyed regarding their knowledge in this area, and training will be provided in follow up.
Town staff has suggested prioritizing needed improvements at the Police/Court building and at the parks already planned for improvements – Butterfield Crossing, Plum Creek and Mitchell Gulch – in 2021. Identified barriers at most other Town buildings would be planned for removal in 2022 and 2023. All modifications are planned to be addressed over a 10-year period, as indicated within the draft plan.
Public input, which is being collected through Nov. 25, is important in ensuring proper priority will be placed on updating the Town facilities used most by people with disabilities. Those people and organizations who work with them are encouraged to participate in this important process.
