The Crystal Valley interchange with Interstate 25 has taken a step forward, with the Town of Castle Rock receiving a $5.4 million Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant will fund pre-construction activities and right of way acquisition for the interchange project.

“I am excited to announce that the Town of Castle Rock will receive significant funding for its Crystal Valley Interchange project,” said U.S. Senator Cory Gardner. “Castle Rock has seen significant growth in recent years, and this BUILD grant will help advance the project. With Colorado’s population growing at one of the fastest rates in the country, I will continue to work with communities across our state to support their infrastructure priorities to ensure safety and efficiency for Coloradans.”

The planned interchange will provide a key regional transportation link from I-25 to southern Castle Rock and Douglas County.

“Castle Rock appreciates the work of our Colorado Senators and Representative in moving this project along by securing valuable funding for the interchange,” said Councilmember George Teal, who represents District 6 in southern Castle Rock.

The current estimate for the interchange is more than $70 million, with the Town of Castle Rock committed to providing $20 million in resources by 2023. The Town is currently acquiring necessary property interests for the project and working to finalize engineering design for the interchange and related frontage road improvements. Additional funding will need to be secured before construction can begin.

“This grant from the federal government, along with the Town’s existing commitment for the interchange, will help us continue to move this important improvement forward,” said Castle Rock Mayor Jason Gray.

The project is a top transportation priority for the Town.
