The Spanish tradition makes is way to Castle Rock… sort of. Experience all the excitement of running with the bulls in your own backyard. East Plum Creek Trail will turn into the streets of Pamplona with the Town’s 5K after 5 series. The Running with the Bulls 5K is set for Friday, Aug. 7.
Last minute check in begins at 5 p.m., and the race / walk starts at 5:30 p.m. Head to CRgov.com/Races for registration. Participants are encouraged to wear their best white running gear. Red Fandanas will be distributed at check-in to help complete the look. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed. Plus, there will be “bull tags” distributed during the chase for a prize drawing following the race. The more “tags” you get the more opportunities you have to win a prize.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several social distancing measures will be in place. Staff will be abiding by all current State heath orders. Race registration will be limited and start times will be staggered. Additionally, participants are encouraged to wear a face covering during the registration process. Those face coverings may be removed once the race begins.
Preregistration is $20 for adults and $15 for youth. Children under 12 years old are free, but must be registered. Please note, livestock will not actually be involved in this race.
Following the race / walk, participants are encouraged to enjoy live music, food trucks and cocktails at First Fridays in Festival Park. Race participants will receive a token for a free beer or soft drink at the concert. More information, including updates on COVID-related precautions, is available at CRgov.com/FirstFridays or follow the event posts on the Town’s Facebook page (CRgov).
