Fireworks are an Independence Day tradition, and the Town can help you celebrate right from your own backyard, as we continue to practice social distancing.
Fireworks will blast off from Santa Fe Quarry Mesa, located just south of The Meadows, above Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course, starting at sundown on Saturday, July 4.
This high-flying show is weather and fire restriction dependent, and can be seen from almost anywhere in Town, though, visibility may be limited in some areas east of Interstate 25.
The show is expected to start at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, and lasts about 15 minutes. You’ll know the fireworks are about to begin when you hear a three-shot salute to start the show.
In the event of rain or severe weather, fireworks will be postponed to July 5. If Stage 2 fire restrictions are in place on July 4, the event will be canceled.
This year, we recommend viewing the fireworks from your home or neighborhood if possible.
Douglas County also has July 4 fireworks displays planned in Highlands Ranch and south Parker. For more information on County shows, visit www.douglas.co.us. All three fireworks shows will be broadcast live on the County website and the County and Town’s Facebook pages.
If you do need to go somewhere to watch the Town’s show, visit CRgov.com/Fireworks for suggested viewing locations. Please don’t congregate in crowds and be sure to maintain proper social distancing. Be aware that parking on streets and roadways will be limited. Also, be courteous of driveways and adhere to any posted neighborhood parking restrictions.
Wherever you choose to socially distance and take in Town fireworks, please respect the area and clean up any trash or debris after the show.
Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course will be open normal hours (6 a.m. to dark). If you choose to take in the fireworks show at the golf course, please do so from the parking lot or driving range. The Clubhouse Grill will be closed. However, barbeque and beverage cart service will be available in the parking lot. Live music will also be played from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Keep in mind, parking at the course is limited. For safety and maintenance reasons, the golf course asks visitors to please stay in the parking lot or driving range area and off the greens.
The timing of the show could change, based on weather, and in case of lightning the show may be rescheduled. Stay tuned to the Town’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/CRgov) for updates on July 4.
The Town is currently under Stage 1 fire restrictions and the use of personal fireworks is prohibited. People found to be in violation of the Town’s fire restrictions are subject to punishment of up to a $1,000 fine, 180 days in jail or both.
