New guidance issued today by the Tri-County Health Department is leading the Town to implement further adjustments to its operations amid the current COVID-19 outbreak in the area:

  • The Town’s indoor recreation facilities – the Recreation Center, Miller Activity Complex and The Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park – will be closed starting Saturday, March 14, through at least Friday, March 27. Conditions will be reevaluated near that time to determine if a March 28 reopening is in the community’s best interest.

Also during this time, all programming including Adventure Club preschool, athletics, aquatics, adaptive recreation, arts and enrichment, birthday parties, field rentals, fitness and wellness classes, SilverSneakers classes, and spring break camps are canceled. Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course will remain open, as will all of the Town’s parks, open spaces and trails. Staff will continue to maintain these outdoor amenities over these weeks.

  • From Monday, March 16, through at least Friday, March 27, the Town will be limiting the workers physically present at its facilities while still providing for essential Town services. Public safety personnel and field staff will continue to work as usual. “We’re still going to provide services,” said Town Manager David L. Corliss. “We’re just going to have less people in public facilities.” Community members are encouraged to conduct Town business online to the extent possible during this time. • Town Council will hold its meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17. In lieu of attending in person, community members may submit comments on the agenda items online at through 1 p.m. Tuesday. The resolution related to the proposed gas station at Plum Creek Parkway and Lake Gulch Road is being deferred until at least Council’s April 7 meeting to maximize the potential for public input on that item.
  • Numerous other public events and meetings through the end of March have been canceled or postponed, including the March 21 ShamROCK Stampede and the March 31 District 2 open house with Councilman James Townsend. Other meetings not mentioned may also be canceled during this timeframe. Visit to check a meeting’s status prior to attending.
  • Castle Rock Municipal Court is continuing most traffic cases and handling all cases possible by mail through April 1. The Court will be contacting respondents by mail with specifics. If you have a pending case with the Court and have questions about the status, email

The Town appreciates the community’s understanding as it makes decisions that impact community members’ daily lives; ultimately, public health and safety is the driving force behind every choice being made. The Town will continue to post updates as needed at
