[ARCHIVED] Jan. 7 Council update

Jan. 7 Council update

The second reading of an ordinance to establish buffering requirements between dissimilar residential developments and a discussion to identify a process for pursuing a possible sister city relationship were both topics on Town Council’s Jan. 7 meeting agenda.

Here’s a more in-depth look at those agenda items:

  • Ordinance establishing buffer requirements between dissimilar residential developments finalized – Town Council approved (6-1) the second reading of an ordinance that establishes buffering requirements between dissimilar residential developments in Town. Dissimilar residential developments are properties where single-family detached homes are adjacent to either single-family attached or multifamily homes, or where single-family attached homes are adjacent to multifamily homes.

The ordinance establishes a minimum 50-foot buffer between dissimilar residential developments to help mitigate impacts between varying types of developments. The requirements apply to developments that share a property line (in whole or in part) or those separated by less than 50 feet of open space. The ordinance also allows Council to waive the requirements if certain conditions are met.
