[ARCHIVED] American Red Cross of Colorado brings free preparedness training to Town residents

Red Cross Training on Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon

As part of their commitment to ensuring the safety and viability of the community, Castle Rock Police Department and Castle Rock Fire and Rescue are partnering with the American Red Cross of Colorado to provide critical training focused on increasing the level of preparedness for man-made, mass casualty events.

The goal of the free four-hour Active Threat Preparedness Program is to empower the community to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from a disaster.

The program will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Castle Rock Water Operations Building, 183 Kellogg Court. Registration is required and space is limited. If you are interested in participating, please register at under the Education & Certifications category.

The Active Threat Preparedness Program contains curriculum and hands-on training in four key modules: Active Shooters, Bleeding Control Techniques, Hands-Only CPR, and Disaster Mental Health. The program aims to help individuals prepare to survive by training lay responders to effectively treat those around them who may have been injured.

For more information, visit the program registration page or contact Officer Joe Cybert at or 303-663-4452.
