Fresh Coat of Paint_NR 219 x 219

Gym-goers, fitness buffs and swimmers, mark your calendars. The Castle Rock Recreation Center will be closed the week of Aug. 12 for routine maintenance and general cleaning. Improvements will continue through the end of the year, so this year’s annual closure week will focus on preparing the facility for new fitness equipment expected this fall.

The Recreation Center is generally closed for a week annually to help make sure the facility stays in tip-top shape. In addition to deep cleaning all equipment and facility flooring, this year, crews will be:

  • Painting the cardio area and fitness studios
  • Installing new lighting in the fitness studio
  • Painting and installing new flooring and lighting in the cycling studio
  • Installing new flooring in the fitness area and Panorama Hall
  • Completing maintenance and upkeep in pool areas, including acid washing the lap pool and painting the leisure pool play structure

Please note, the slides at the leisure pool will be closed starting Sunday, Aug. 11 so crews can get a jump start on the work.

During the closure, Recreation Center pass and punch card holders can use their cards for the MAC at Philip S. Miller Park or at Butterfield Crossing Pool for swimming or splash pad fun. The pool will be open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. the week of the closure.

The new functional fitness area at the MAC is also a great alternative for gym-goers to enjoy during the closure. Additionally, group fitness classes will be available at the MAC and the Amphitheater. Visit for the class schedule and additional information.

The Recreation Center will reopen for normal business hours Saturday, Aug. 17. If you have any questions, please contact the Recreation Center Front Desk at 303-660-1036. Or, visit for updates.
