[ARCHIVED] Learn about reuse water in Castle Rock; rescheduled open house set for April 13

Castle Rock Water Reuse Open House on April 13, 2019

For years, Castle Rock Water has worked to secure the community’s long-term water future. Now, purified reuse water is making its way to Castle Rock, and that means big things for the community. Learn more at the rescheduled open house Saturday, April 13.

Join Castle Rock Water from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plum Creek Water Purification Facility, 1929 Liggett Road, to learn more about how reuse water is a safe, sustainable and economical water source for the community.

Children’s activities and breakfast burritos will be provided, and adults will get the chance to taste wine made from repurified water.

Reuse is a simple process that involves producing safe drinking water from treated wastewater reclaimed from a creek or river. After water is used in homes and businesses, it goes down the drain and is sent to the Plum Creek Water Reclamation Authority’s wastewater treatment plant. There, contaminants are removed and the treated water is released into East Plum Creek. Soon, instead of allowing that water to be lost to downstream communities, Castle Rock Water will recapture it from the creek, purify it and then reuse it.
