[ARCHIVED] April 2 Council update

Town Council Update - April 2

Town Council presented several proclamations Tuesday night including one recognizing Town staff for its efforts during the 2019 Bomb Cyclone Blizzard. Mayor Jason Gray also kicked off the Mayor’s Conservation Challenge by proclaiming April as Water Conservation Month. Additionally, Town Council proclaimed April 19, 2019, as Arbor Day.

Here’s a look at a couple other item Council discussed Tuesday:

  • Construction contract of a reuse water pipeline to Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course approved – Town Council approved a construction contract with Global Underground Corp. for a project to deliver reclaimed water from Plum Creek Water Reclamation Authority’s treatment facility to Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course. This reclaimed water will be used for turf irrigation at the course and has been used to irrigate golf courses in Castle Pines for several decades.

Currently, the golf course uses a dedicated deep well that pumps untreated raw water to the golf course pond for turf irrigation. Delivering reclaimed water to the golf course will reduce demands on the Town’s deep aquifer and shallow groundwater systems.

  • Resolution to approve a service agreement for design of the new Castle Rock Water Administration and Customer Service building moves forward – Town Council approved a resolution for a service agreement with HB&A Inc. for design of Castle Rock Water’s Administration and Customer Service Building.

Castle Rock Water is currently located at 175 Kellogg Court. That facility was originally constructed as a showroom building and metal warehouse for a lumber yard. Since moving into the space in 2002, Castle Rock Water has installed several modular buildings as temporary accommodations for additional staff. A facility site assessment was conducted in early 2013. Several space deficiencies were identified in that assessment. This new building will help address those space concerns.
