Omni Tributary Stabilization

Project description

This drainageway improvement project is designed to preserve, enhance and reconstruct the natural floodplains in our community. The infrastructure serves to reduce public risk from stream channel erosion and flooding. This project also has a water quality component that ensures our renewable drinking water supplies are preserved and protected. The project will install boulder drop structures, bank stabilization measures and fill material along both the Omni Tributary channel and an unnamed tributary adjacent to Red Hawk Golf Course. Protection of existing vegetation and the trail network is a priority.

Timeline

Feb. - Sept. 2022

Contract

This Capital Improvement Project is budgeted at $1.7 million. 53 Corporation LLC is the prime contractor and will be performing the work under the direction of Castle Rock Water.

March 10, 2022 Update:

While recent snow storms have slowed progress on the project, the contractor has completed installation of temporary stormwater sediment controls, construction fencing along the project perimeter, and tree and shrub removals along the upstream sections of the channel. Ongoing work at this time includes excavation, placing fill material and grading east of Red Hawk Drive to bring the channel to design elevations for placement of rock riprap at the culvert outfalls and for bank stabilization. We are also preparing to perform some concrete repair work on the culvert outfalls discovered during excavation operations.

Simultaneously, the contractor will continue to place/grade fill material in the channel so that construction of the boulder drop structures can commence once the above activities are finished. We currently remain on schedule for project completion in September 2022.
