This family friendly event starts as the sun sets and celebrates the full moon. Timing of this event varies from year to year, depending on the lunar calendar, but generally happens in either July or August.
This year, experience the 10th annual evening ride on the East Plum Creek Trail to Festival Park. At the park, kids will enjoy viewing the moon through telescopes set up by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). Other fun includes activities with the IDA, bike decorating and a weenie roast hosted by the boy scouts. Of course, all riders must wear a helmet and have a front headlamp and blinking rear light.
Registration includes a T-shirt as well as hot dogs, chips and a drink. The ride departs from Butterfield Crossing Park at 7 p.m. Riders will make their way to and from Festival Park via the East Plum Creek Trail.
