Video cameras are one of the best methods for detecting and apprehending criminals. Castle Rock Police's Rock Watch Program partners with residents to create a secure, private map of locations with cameras. That way, if a crime happens in your area, police know who to contact quickly for any possible video footage.
Residents can register a security camera that views any public area in the Town (sidewalks, streets, parking lots, etc.). If a crime is committed, police may contact you to review footage related to that incident. That information would then be used to apprehend and prosecute the criminals involved.
This program is not intended for active surveillance. All location/contact information is housed in a secure database, and Castle Rock Police will not have direct access to your private video system with this program.
Officers may only request to see or make copies of footage related to criminal activity and to use it as evidence during criminal proceedings.
Register your camera(s) or email Rock Watch with your questions.
