Youth Sports
Our youth sports programs are designed to offer participants a variety of sport leagues in a fun, safe and well supervised environment. Our leagues consist of soccer, indoor golf, baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball. These leagues introduce kids to the sport and allow them to practice and showcase their skills in game or tournament situations. We offer sports for kids ages 4 through 18.
Baseball
Coed Blastball (ages 3-4)
This program is a fun way for young kids to be introduced to baseball / softball, while learning basic motor skills. All players hit, run, throw and field the ball. Must turn 3 years old prior to the start of the program. This program is offered indoors on the turf fields at the MAC.
Coed T-ball (ages 4-5)
Players will learn how to bat from a hitting tee, throw, and catch in a fun, non-competitive environment. Players must provide their own glove. We offer a summer and fall season.
Coach Pitch (K-first grade)
League continues to establish the fundamental skills of baseball/softball in a modified format. There are two different sessions to choose from. The program runs from mid-May through July and is offered in summer and fall.
Machine Pitch (second-third grade)
Players will learn what pitches they should hit, and fielders will get more game reps of fielding and throwing. One practice each week will be batting practice with the machine. We offer a summer and fall season.
Boys Baseball (fourth-eighth grade)
Participants in fourth through eighth grades will learn the fundamentals of baseball through practice and play while competing against other teams from Castle Rock. We offer a spring/summer league that runs April-early July.
Competitive Baseball League (ages 7-14)
Individual registrations are not taken for this program, only full team registrations is available. Practice fields will be provided for local Castle Rock teams only.
Basketball
Little Dribblers Basketball (preschool-kindergarten)
Boys and girls can learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun and noncompetitive atmosphere.
Coed basketball (K-second grade)
Teams practice once per week with games held on Saturday.
Basketball (third-eighth grade)
Leagues are offered for both boys and girls. Practice is once a week with games being held on Saturday.
Youth & Adult Fencing
Discover the Exciting Sport of Olympic Fencing! Fencing is a centuries old art and is gaining in popularity each year. Fencing is a mental and physical sport that builds your agility, strength and stamina. It also teaches you focus, strategic thinking and problem solving. Our class foster competition, confidence, respect, and self-discipline in a safe and fun environment. This is a great sport for parents and children!
This six-week program includes an introduction to the history of fencing, weapons, target areas and fencing technique. The use of equipment is included in the class fee.
Youth Coed Flag Football (first-sixth grade)
Experience all positions! Learn the fundamentals of football in a fun environment. Every player may run, pass and / or receive the ball.
- Spring league - games played on Friday and Saturday indoors at the MAC.
- Fall league - games played on Thursday/Saturday outdoors.
Indoor Flag Football starts in March and runs through April. All games and practices are held inside at the Miller Activity Complex in the afternoon.
Hockey
Pilo Hockey (K-2nd grade)
We are excited to announce a new developmental youth hockey program to the Town of Castle Rock! On Thursdays beginning December 1st, Pillo Hockey will be offered on the small turf field at the Miller Complex (MAC). Depending on the number of registrations we get, we will plan on having Thursday night pickup and play style sessions. If we can get larger number of participants we will still look to form leagues of teams with no more than 10 players per team and possibly combine Kindergarten and 1st grade players OR 1st grade and 2nd grade players. We will do our best to not mix Kindergarten and 2nd grade players to start! Pending opening night of initial practices/pick up and play sessions: Thursday, December 1st If enough for league play - opening night of practices: Thursday, December 1st or Friday, December 2nd Large MAC turf field available on Fridays for first two weeks of practice sessions! Floor Hockey (3rd-5th grade)
We are excited to announce a new hockey program for Castle Rock Youth Athletics!
As an introduction to the sport of hockey, we will offer Floor Hockey Leagues for athletes currently entered into 3rd through 5th grade. Teams will consist of 9-10 players each with games having 4 players aside and a goalie. Teams will be provided floor hockey sticks, floor hockey balls as well as goaltending equipment for each practice session and games. Depending on the amount of players registered per grade, teams will be constructed either according to their current grade level or a possible combination of 3rd and 4th graders OR 4th and 5th graders. 3rd grade players will NOT be combined with 5th grade players!
The first two weeks of the season will include team meetings, meet the coach(s) and practice at a location TBD. Teams will be given a team shirt and must come up with a team name during those two weeks. From then on, teams will be playing one game a week either on a Monday night or Thursday night. All teams must have an adult coach to manage the group for the season.
Inline/Street Hockey (2nd-8th grade)
The Town of Castle Rock will be offering inline hockey leagues for players ranging from 2nd grade through high school. The twin outdoor rinks at Metzler Park are being equipped with new scoreboards.
Games will be played on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and early afternoons. All teams will be offered a single 1-hour practice at one of the Metzler rinks during the week (other than Thursdays or Saturdays).
A high school aged division will start their season at the end of May ending in late June. Other divisions will start their season at the end of August ending in early October.
Soccer
Indoor Youth Soccer Leagues (ages 5-18)
This program is offered during our winter session in January and February. All games will be played at the MAC and will include both recreational and competitive leagues. Individual registration will only be taken for our recreational leagues, competitive leagues will be full-team registration only. 3v3 will be offered for 5U-10U. 6V6 will be offered on the large field for ages 11U-18U Saturday afternoon / night.

Rapids Youth Soccer (ages 4-18)

Softball
Individual registration
- Softball is offered in the spring.
- Registration: Feb. 25 - April 1
- Season: April 9 - June
- Practices: Guaranteed one practice in Castle Rock per week.
Competitive fall softball (team registration only)
Castle Rock Athletics now offers competitive softball through a partnership with Indian Peaks. Teams will play a minimum of 10 games during the season in Castle Rock and at various metro-area fields. Each team will be responsible for uniforms, practice balls and equipment; game balls will be provided by the league. Individual registrations are not taken for this program, only full-team registration is available. Practice fields are provided for local Castle Rock teams (one day per week), and practice schedules are determined by the coach/team.
Youth Tennis (ages 5-18)
The Town partners with Castle Rock Tennis to offer a variety of programs for all skill levels ages 5-18. Programs include daytime and evening leagues, group and private lessons, tournaments, drop-in-drills and more.
Youth Track & Field (ages 3-14)
The season run from the beginning of June until the end of July with both a competitive and recreational offering.
Competitive
Competitive is open to ages 3-14. This option will simulate a USATF club track team with track meets against other recreation centers. Coaches will help develop skills in an athletes preferred event group. No previous track experience is required. Ages 3-8 who choose to do competitive will still enjoy running based games while participating in age appropriate track workouts. Competitive practices are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings at Douglas County High School. Meets held on Saturdays at different locations.
Recreational
Kids who choose this option will enjoy running based games led by our staff. This is an introduction to running through the use of games. Recreational will not compete in any meets. Recreation is offered to ages 3-8. Practices are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Mesa Middle School. There will be no official meets for this offering.
Volleyball
Coed Little Spikes Volleyball (first-second grade)
Get in on the fun and exciting sport of volleyball! Volleyball for all the "Little Spikes" out there. Boys and girls will learn the basic rules of volleyball, passing and underhand serving. Setting and digging will also be introduced. This program is offered in the fall and spring.
Coed Youth Volleyball (third-sixth grade)
Bump, set, spike! Practice and games will build upon the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting and digging. League is offered in the spring, fall and winter with all games held on Saturday.
