Perhaps it should be inspired by a historical figure. Or, by local flora or fauna. It could be influenced by something else altogether.
Whatever you think, the Town wants to know your thoughts regarding the name for its next park in The Meadows, near Aspen View Academy.
The 5.5-acre park, at the intersection of Low Meadow Boulevard and Red Hawk Drive, is planned to include infrastructure for playing pickle ball, bocce ball, cornhole and horseshoes. Picnic shelters, trails and a multiuse field round out the major planned amenities at the park.
The firm that designed the park has generated a list of potential names for it – provide your feedback online
. Also at that site are several prompts for additional potential name ideas.
Input will be collected through Aug. 31. Submitted ideas will be forwarded to a naming committee, which will make recommendations to Town Council.
The Town’s facility-naming criteria say the name should foster a sense of community and small-town character; heighten awareness of Town history; celebrate the natural environment; call attention to points of pride in the community; and/or call attention to people, events and geography that have shaped the Town.
The construction budget for the park is $2 million, which is being funded through growth-related impact fees paid by developers. Construction is expected to begin in 2018 and wrap up for a spring/summer 2019 opening.
