Recreation Center reopening kicks off a return to wellness
The world may look a little different, but the Parks and Recreation Department is helping residents get back into their fitness routines. The Castle Rock Recreation Center reopens Monday, June 1, but with some changes.
For the foreseeable future, social distancing will be the name of the game. While the Rec Center will be welcoming a safe return to wellness, the facility will be open by appointment only.
Staff is working to follow all guidelines set by the State and local health department. With that in mind, the facility will be open for one hour of operation, followed by one hour of cleaning. Appointment times can be reserved 48 hours in advance at CRgov.com/Registration.
The facility layout has been modified to adhere to social distancing and lower-capacity requirements. Six zones have been created throughout the facility, with a maximum capacity of 10 people per zone. Users will reserve a one-hour time slot within a specific zone. Switching or modifying zones during workouts will not be allowed.
The fitness zones are:
- Zone A – core and light cardio
- Zone B – machine-based strength training and circuit training
- Zone C – strength training
- Zone D – cardio
- Zone E – light cardio and light core
- Zone F – cycling class and modified group fitness classes
More information about each zone is available at CRgov.com/ReturnToWellness.
Please note, users will be required to wear face coverings until they reach their fitness zone. Locker rooms will only be open for restroom use. Lockers will not be available. Additionally, only water bottle-filling stations will be available – not drinking fountains. Drop-in childcare will not be available. The indoor track and indoor racquetball, pickleball, and basketball courts will be closed, along with the leisure pool.
Lap pool update
The lap pool at the Rec Center will open Monday, June 8, by appointment only. One-hour lap lane reservations will be available online. Lap lanes are limited to one person per lane, per hour.
A lot of changes are happening quickly. Updates to procedures will be available online or through the Town’s RockREC registration app. Search “Castle Rock Recreation” or “RockREC” (one word) to download the app, which is available free for both iOS and Android devices.
