Flush your plumbing system
Uncertain times can bring a lot of questions. So, as customers begin to re-open businesses and buildings, Castle Rock Water is reminding customers to please ensure the safety of their building’s plumbing system by flushing the system. With lack of use, the plumbing in your business or building can carry stagnant or standing water. This stagnant water can cause conditions that increase the risk of growth of bacteria in your building’s plumbing system. Please keep these recommendations and steps from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in mind to minimize the risk of contaminants in your building’s plumbing system.
Most importantly, please flush your plumbing system.
To do this, run both the hot and cold water through all points of use, like showers, sink faucets and toilets. The purpose is to replace any water sitting inside the building with fresh water. It’s also a good idea to check that the water heater is set at a minimum of 120 degrees. Be sure to the hot water until it reaches its maximum temperature.
Please refer to the CDC toolkit for additional steps, especially if your business or building has hot tubs, pools, or cooling towers, or is a healthcare facility or hotel.
