Conquer conservation with new CRconserve.com

CRconserveNEWS

Water is a vital resource we can’t take for granted. For years, Castle Rock Water customers have embraced the call to conserve. Now, there’s a new tool to help make being water wise even easier. CRconserve.com is a new and improved resource for everything conservation.

From water-savings tips to landscape ideas, the newly updated website is packed with information. The goal of the Town Council-approved update is to provide a tool for customers looking to be more water-conscious.

As part of the redesign, several custom-programming elements were also created. Each tool brings an interactive element to help customers take control of their watering priorities. These tools include:

  • Weather Station application – stay up-to-date on the weather in your neighborhood with the Weather Station application. Housed right on the homepage, this application collects weather information from all four of the Town’s weather stations. With a click of a button, get the temperature, evapotranspiration, solar radiation or precipitation in your area.
  • Run-time Calculator – make sure your irrigation system is running as efficiently as possible with the new Run-Time Calculator. Determine how much water each irrigation zone needs by answering a few simple questions. Print or email the results to yourself for future reference.
  • Plant Finder – folks planning a big planting project this season will not want to miss the new Plant Finder. Browse through a searchable list of more than 275 plants perfect for Castle Rock’s climate. Get details, pictures and plant-care information about each plant. Plus, find plant pairings to help with your next landscape design project.

“CRconserve.com is really an amazing resource to help customers make more water-conscious decisions,” said Castle Rock Water Director Mark Marlowe. “The department worked hard to make sure this website was easy to use and would give customers the conservation information they need.”

So far, customers have reduced their per person consumption by 20 percent. With the intention of reducing consumption by another 20 percent, the new CRconserve.com is full of tips to help.

CRconserve.com was originally created in 2010 with a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Conservation has always been a key component to the Town’s long-term water plan. By cutting back today, we can save resources for a more secure water future.
