Sellars Gulch Trail is being rerouted to accommodate Downtown construction

News-Town3

They say before things can get better, they have to get worse. Construction Downtown has been making huge progress. Festival Park, the Town Hall expansion and now Riverwalk are all going full-speed ahead. The Town is now asking for the public’s patience as Sellars Gulch Trail gets rerouted to accommodate the work and keep trail users safe.

IREA will be starting work to relocate electrical lines near the new Riverwalk project directly west of Wilcox Street. A detour is already in place for Sellars Gulch Trail to accommodate construction at Festival Park. Now, that detour will need to be updated for the Riverwalk underground electrical work.

The closed portion of the trail is between Wilcox and Perry streets. Currently, the detour takes trail users to street level by the police station, down to South Street, along the west side of Wilcox Street and down the ADA access ramp near the Blue Nectar restaurant.

This new work means the trail will need an additional detour for the next 6 to 8 weeks. From the police station, trail users will need to detour north to Third Street, stay on the east side of Wilcox Street, and then cross Wilcox Street at Second Street to get to the trail access point.

Work is expected to begin Monday, April 24. While crews will be on the lookout for pedestrian traffic, the Town is asking trail users to be careful and look both ways before crossing the street.

The Riverwalk project is set to bring a mixed use of retail, resident and office space, while Festival Park is being transformed into a true community gathering location.
