Construction at Town Hall: use Wilcox entrance

town image

Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St., is now a construction zone, as a 14,000-square-foot addition is being added to help maintain service levels as the Town continues to grow.

The construction means you may need to alter your habits when visiting Town Hall.

First, the east entrance to the building – nearest the parking lot – is closed for the duration of the construction, which will last through fall 2017; use the Wilcox Street entrance instead.

Second, the water bill payment box is being moved from its current location, just southeast of Town Hall, to along the one-way lane at the east side of the main parking lot. Please look there if driving through to drop off a payment.

The addition is needed because the Town staff has outgrown Town Hall, built in 2001, when the Town’s population was about one-third of what it is now. About 45 Town staff members worked in the building when it opened; more than 105 staffers are projected to be working from the building by 2024.

The addition will also allow for improvements to customers’ access, as it will create a new central lobby, as well as to security within the building.

The $5.1 million project is being funded through developer/builder user fees, and not by general tax dollars.

Those visiting Town Hall between now and fall will need to be alert to construction activity, which will at times restrict access from the main drive into Town Hall, from Wilcox Street. In those instances, the South Street drive should be used to access Town Hall.

Critical construction updates will be posted at CRgov.com/DowntownConstruction; please check that website before visiting Town Hall for any information about any access impacts. As the project progresses, information will be available online at CRgov.com/parkingstudy.
