District 5 recall petition withdrawn by representatives

District 5 recall petition withdrawn

The Town of Castle Rock Town Clerk received written requests on Friday, Sept. 9, from the three petition representatives requesting withdrawal of the recall petition of District 5 Councilmember Renee Valentine. The withdrawal is authorized and in conformance with 15-6 of the Town Charter. The withdrawal terminates the recall proceeding. The ballot language that the Town Clerk certified to the County, will not include the recall District 5 question. In accordance with the Town Charter, the petition could have been withdrawn up to 20 days before the November election date. Per State Statute and Town Charter, there will be no further official proceedings regarding this recall effort. District 5 includes Castle Oaks, Cobblestone Ranch, Escavera/The Woodlands and Founders Village. It’s important to note Valentine was first elected in 2011 and re-elected for a second term, in 2014. Her current term expires in 2018.
