Many of us are looking forward to an extra day off this Labor Day weekend, but as you’re driving through Town, look for Castle Rock Firefighters working a little extra hard for a good cause.
Each year, the Fire and Rescue Department participates in the annual Fill the Boot fundraiser to collect donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Find them at Safeway on Perry Street, both King Soopers locations, Home Depot, the Outlets at Castle Rock and other locations Sept. 3-5.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic laterals sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases through funding worldwide research, providing health care services and advocacy.
“The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department whole heartedly supports MDA and the difference they make to the Muscular Dystrophy community,” said Castle Rock Fire Chief Art Morales. “Making a positive difference in people’s lives is what we are about as a department, and MDA has the same goal. It’s a fantastic partnership.”
The Fire and Rescue Department has been participating for nearly two decades. Last year, thanks to our generous community, CRFD, raised a total of $43,000. The goal this year is to raise $50,000.
