Grab your bike, helmet and a few decorations to light up the night with your family at the Town’s annual Pedal the Moon bike ride. The fun will be as full as the moon when cyclists of all ages participate in the 6-mile ride Saturday, Aug. 13.
Meet at 7 p.m. at the Butterfield Crossing Park picnic pavilion, 3952 W. Butterfield Crossing Drive. Under the light of the moon, riders will begin their journey along East Plum Creek at 8 p.m. The ride ends at Festival Park in Downtown Castle Rock.
Please keep in mind, this is a one-way ride. Participants should make arrangements for transportation at the end of the trip. Also, the course is mostly-flat terrain and suitable for riders of all ages.
Cyclists are encouraged to participate in the festive spirit by decorating their bikes with lights and other decorations. Glow sticks and LED spoke lights will be available at the park. Additionally, all participants must wear a helmet and have a front headlamp and blinking rear light.
Following the ride, there will be prizes, dessert and plenty of fun for the whole family. Prizes include three new cruiser bikes from Country Pedaler, massage certificates from Elements and two zip line passes from Castle Rock Zip Line Tours.
Before the event, registration is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 12. On race day, the fee increases to $15 for adults and $10 for children. The registration fee includes a T-shirt, dessert and, of course, a sparkling good time.
