As Castle Rock continues to grow, your Town knows it’s important that infrastructure keeps up with demand. Construction is about to start on one project to help improve traffic flow on the south end of Town.
Starting in late May, crews will be working along Plum Creek Parkway, between Perry Street and Interstate 25. They will be adding lanes and smoothing out the road.
As with any road construction, we know things sometimes get worse before they get better. Making these improvements will mean a bit of inconvenience to drivers this summer, and we want your feedback before we get started.
The Town will host an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St. Learn more about the project and then give your feedback on a couple construction phasing options.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late May. The duration and related impact to traffic will depend on feedback received. Keep reading for specific information on each intersection.
At Perry Street and Plum Creek Parkway, a dedicated right-turn lane will be added from southbound Perry Street to westbound Plum Creek Parkway.
At Wilcox Street and Plum Creek Parkway, the intersection will be reconstructed to improve drainage and ride quality by removing the “dip” on the east side of this intersection. Plus, additional turn lanes will be added to improve traffic flow for westbound Plum Creek Parkway and northbound Wilcox Street.
At I-25 and Plum Creek Parkway, new electronic signage will provide an additional right-turn lane for drivers to access the northbound I-25 on-ramp during heavy morning traffic hours. Also, the lanes on the southbound off-ramp will be rearranged for better traffic flow.
Finally, crews will make the most of this inconvenience by also repairing the pavement, curbs and sidewalks along Plum Creek Parkway between Douglas County Fairgrounds and Wilcox Street.
If you can’t make the open house, visit CRgov.com/PCP for information and to fill out a feedback form. Detailed construction phasing information will be posted after the May 12 open house.
