Join the Town this summer for a new signature event series

In Castle Rock, maintaining our community character is a top priority. The Town’s new Events Division is making sure we’re celebrating Castle Rock’s heritage and maintaining a strong community future with a new signature event series.

Dance under the stars to live music from local and nationally known bands at the new Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Celebrate our Western heritage with a kickoff party for the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo. Unwind Downtown after a long week at work with music, food and drinks.

This new event series will have 20 events this season that will provide fun, local, family friendly activities in our own backyard.

Mark your calendar:

• Downtown After 5: Come relax Downtown as select Fridays come alive from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music, craft beer, cocktails and themed food trucks. Or, checkout work by local artisans, pick up specialty gifts and enjoy living painting presentations. Join us Downtown on May 6, June 3, July 8, Aug. 5 and Sept. 16.

• Celebration Concert Series: Soon to be a signature part of summer, listen and dance to music under the stars at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Think a miniature version of Red Rocks. These concerts by nationally known bands will be May 21, June 11, July 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24. All start at 7 p.m.

• Rocky Mountain Sports Festival: A custom sports festival created especially for Castle Rock. Compete in a sporting tournament like swimming, soccer, cycling or equine. Or, participate in an activity like disc golf or yoga. This tournament will have something for everyone. Not feeling athletic? Watch the tournaments on giant screens while enjoying live music, food and drinks at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

• Western Heritage Welcome: Explore Castle Rock’s Western heritage at this kick off to the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Festival Park. Douglas County has been home to the rodeo for years. Let’s help get this popular family tradition off on the right foot.

• Scavenge the Rock: Castle Rock has so many treasures to discover. Uncover new or forgotten places of our community with this competitive scavenger hunt from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, Downtown. Open to all ages. Participants can choose from several different hunts including highly active and family friendly versions.

• Harvest Festival: A great pumpkin wall is the backdrop for this fall event from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in Festival Park. More details to follow.

• Season of the Star: This holiday-inspired event series will shine for the second year to help make the season in Castle Rock sparkle. Starting the weekend after Starlighting, these events will continue through New Year’s Eve. Watch for more information in the fall.

Many of these events are free, but ticketed concerts like the Celebration Concert Series are sure to sell out quickly. Watch the Town’s Facebook page and for ticket and band information.

With the above event series, the Town is ramping up its first full year of community festivals, concerts and activities. Additionally, the Events Division provides a single point of contact for those interested in hosting an event.

Want to get more involved? We’re looking for sponsors! Be among the first to present these exciting events to our community. Plus, join the events staff or become a volunteer. Email for more information.
