A Use by Special Review for Lot 31, Block 27, Meadows Filing No. 18 to Allow a Large In-Home Daycare

Planning Commission Virtual Meeting Only: Thursday, Aug. 13 2020

Notice is hereby given that Taylor Lewison and Amy Lewison (Owners) have made application for a Use by Special Review to allow a large in-home daycare in their private residence located at 2893 Deerfoot Way, Castle Rock, CO 80109, in The Meadows Planned Development (PD) subdivision. The property is legally described as Lot 31, Block 27, The Meadows Filing No. 18.

The Owners currently operate Ms. Amy’s Tot Academy, a licensed small in-home daycare at this location. A small in-home daycare limits the number of children to six, plus two school-aged children. The Meadows PD Zoning, 4th Amendment allows for a large in-home daycare to be approved by Town Council as a Use by Special Review. As a large in-home daycare, the Owners would be permitted to provide childcare services for up to twelve children, subject to the State of Colorado regulations for operation and licensing.

No on-site construction is necessary to accommodate the additional children. The daycare facility operates out of the Owner’s finished, walk-out basement, which is a dedicated space for childcare, with a separate entrance.

Pursuant to Resolutions 2020-044 and 2020-045, as approved by Town Council, a virtual public hearing on said application will be held before the Planning Commission on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic health concerns, the hearing will be held remotely, with no in-person attendance.
