Castle Rock Water is planning stormwater improvements at the Metzler Ranch Community Park, located on the southeast corner of Front Street and Sam Walton Lane. The Metzler Ranch Pond Retrofit Project will restore the water quality and flood control volume of the regional detention pond. Other project benefits include:
Upgrading the existing inlet water quality structures to collect sediment accumulation deposited from incoming storm flows
Upgrading the existing outlet water quality structure to enhance the water quality of discharged stormwater
Removal of the majority of volunteer woody vegetation that has overgrown
Removal of over 7,000 cubic yards of sediment material that has accumulated over the years
Improved maintenance access into the pond
Road access and service disruption
There are no road closures or water service disruptions planned.
The retrofit construction will generally occur within the bottom and lower side slopes of the pond. The material removal haul route is planned to exit the site onto southbound Front Street, then left onto Fifth Street.
Construction activity will be restricted to weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., although work may also occur outside those times as approved by the Town to accommodate special conditions. Periodic traffic restrictions will occur on northbound Front Street at times when materials are being removed or delivered to the site.
January - April 2021
The construction contract was awarded to 53 Corporation. This project is being funded through the Stormwater Enterprise Fund in the amount of $772,736.
