Municipal candidate filings and deadlines

July 26 District 1 recall election

Week of July 5 - Mail ballots are mailed to registered voters in District 1 for the recall election
July 18 - Last day to register to vote online to receive a mail ballot for District 1 recall election
July 26 - Last day to register to vote in person at Douglas County Elections Office
July 26 - District 1 recall election day. Ballots must be physically received by the Douglas County Elections Office by 7 p.m.

Nov. 8 general election

Aug. 8 - Pick up pre-printed nomination petition sections for circulation from the Town Clerk
Aug. 9 - Nomination petition circulation may begin
Aug. 15 - Candidate orientation meeting with Town staff at 6 p.m. at Town Hall
Aug. 29 - Deadline for nomination petition, circulator's affidavit and candidate acceptance affidavit by 5 p.m.
Sept. 6 - Deadline to withdraw candidate nomination via notarized letter
Sept. 6 - Deadline to cure defects of nomination petition
Oct. 7 - Affidavit of intent for write in candidate due
Oct. 7 - Candidate committee report of contributions and expenditures by 5 p.m.
Week of Oct. 17 - Mail ballots are mailed to registered voters for the November general election
Oct. 18 - Candidate committee report of contributions and expenditures by 5 p.m.
Oct. 28 - Candidate committee report of contributions and expenditures by 5 p.m.
Oct. 31 - Last day to register to vote online to receive a mail ballot for the general election
Nov. 4 - Candidate committee report of contributions and expenditures by 5 p.m.
Nov. 8 - Last day to register to vote in person at Douglas County Elections Office
Nov. 8 - November general election day. Ballots must be physically received by the Douglas County Elections Office by 7 p.m.
Nov. 23 - Candidate committee report of contributions and expenditures by 5 p.m.
Dec. 6 - Elected Town Councilmembers are sworn in to office
