It’s important to Your Town to have an open, transparent budget process, and it’s imperative that each year’s budget is balanced, and focused on the community’s priorities.
The Town has heard the community’s feedback: traffic is a top concern in Castle Rock.
We’re listening: additional resources are planned to be invested to improve the Town’s surface transportation system via the 2017 Budget and the 2017-2019 Balanced Financial Plan, which are presently in development.
Continued progress is also planned in other priority areas, including public health and safety; long-term water; economic development; parks and recreation; and community character.
Additional public input regarding financial priorities is welcomed as the budget process continues – open houses were held on May 24 and June 13.
In addition to further addressing the community’s priorities, budget considerations will include potential changes to the fees paid by new developments. Town Council will discuss these and other budget-related topics at a financial work session on June 14.
Follow the process
The Preliminary 2017 Budget is planned to be presented to Town Council and the community Aug. 16 – the draft document will be posted on this web page about that time.
Town Council plans to formally consider the budget on first reading on Sept. 6 and on second and final reading on Sept. 20. Public input is welcome at these sessions as well.
