Intergovernmental Land Use Agreement

Joint planning efforts
The Douglas County / Town of Castle Rock Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) details land use between the two jurisdictions and established a mutually binding and enforceable intergovernmental development plan. The IGA was adopted in 2004 and amended in 2008.

In January 2016, Douglas County submitted a letter of intent to end the agreement, while maintaining the commitment to transparent and proactive communication with the Town through the land use referral process. The IGA stated the agreement could be terminated with written notice at the end of a five-year term, and it will officially end on Aug. 9, 2016. Read the letter. Town Council received a formal update at its March 8 meeting

The IGA was intended for the two entities to jointly plan and regulate land uses, specifically where urban and rural uses meet.
