Castle Rock Half Marathon

Castle Rock's small-town charm, abundant outdoors, and beautiful parks, trails and open space, make our Town a great place to run.

Join us for the fourth annual Castle Rock Half Marathon event. The race will start Downtown, then tour the community before heading to the East Plum Creek Trail for a shady run by the creek.

Course information

Half Marathon

The Half Marathon is a scenic run with nominal elevation gains and losses. Most of the course stretches along the serene untouched open space of Plum Creek.

5-Mile Race

Not up for the traditional 13.1 miles? The shorter 5-Mile race follows the best parts of the Half Marathon but cuts the distance. Midway between a 5K and 10K, you'll love this run.

Rock Challenge

Looking for a little bit of adventure? This race is for you. The Rock Challenge adds the steep ascent and descent of our iconic Town monument, the Rock, to the first half of the 5-mile distance, making it a thigh-burning wake up call. Most of this course is paved except the trek up the Rock. That is a single-track natural surface trail that increase in elevation from 6,206 to 6,486 feet in 0.64 miles - that's a 280 foot climb in just over 0.5 miles!

Aid stations

Aid stations will be at the following locations along the race course:
  • Mile 1.5 at the turnoff for the 5-Mile and Rock Challenge
  • Mile 3 at the trail turn
  • Mile 4.5 at the trail junction
  • Mile 6 at the underpass
  • Mile 8 at the turnaround (we'll have gels and bananas here)
  • Mile 10 at the underpass
  • Mile 11.5 at the trail junction

Note: Port-o-potties will also be located along the course.

More information

All three events will be professionally timed, with prizes for top finishers and finisher medals for Half Marathon participants. Registration spaces are limited so don't wait to sign up.

Stick around for the post race expo, unique Downtown boutiques and local restaurants within a few blocks of the start / finish line. This will be a great day to spend in Castle Rock.
